Description of Tool or App

Collaborize Classroom is an online resource that can be used as a way to extend classroom learning outside of the classroom. It allows teachers to ask questions that can be responded to be students. The types of questions that can be asked include Yes or No, multiple choice, vote or suggest, and forum. The “Yes or No” type question allows teachers to ask a question that requires a yes/no answer. Students are asked to respond and to justify their answer. The “Multiple Choice” option asks students to choose from 2 or more options and then to justify their answers. The “Vote or Suggest” option allows the student to suggest an answer to another student’s response, and the “Forum” option is one that allows the student to reflect on a topic.

In addition to the ability to pose a question, the teacher can also attach video, an image, or a document to coincide with the question being posed. The teacher also sets dates for the posting of the question. Once posted, the questions can be responded to either via computer or using the free app available for download. Once all students have posted a response, the teacher can post all responses to a results page.

This site also allows the teacher to choose the topic from a topic library provided by the site. This library allows the teacher to search by subject, the grade level, and also allows the teacher to search by “user tag”. These are tags used when a teacher adds a topic using these particular “tags”.
